Our vision

It is our passion to nurture, foster and inspire every child’s individuality. We offer a supportive and exciting community to create happy, adventurous, inquiring and reflective learners.

We prepare children to approach learning through a problem solving and creative approach. Children are comfortable to express themselves and take risks to achieve in a breadth of areas. Our philosophy of an academic morning and creative afternoon encapsulated in a culture of care helps achieve the purpose of ensuring every child wakes up each day excited to come to school.

Kent College has always enjoyed a reputation as a particularly friendly and welcoming school.

This is a tradition the School is very anxious to maintain and strengthen, so a clearly articulated mission statement and a widely circulated set of aims and values are an important element in pursuing this goal. Please see these statements as much more than pious platitudes.

At Kent College we genuinely try to live by them.

The aims of Kent College are to:

  • Be a caring Christian family community committed to the development of the full potential of each individual and to promoting a sense of wellbeing throughout the school.
  • Maintain high educational standards in all academic, cultural and sporting activities, stimulating high excitement in learning and requiring discipline in study whatever the ability of the child.
  • Encourage positive risk taking in learning.
  • Work with and in the communities it serves.
  • Worship as Christians in the Methodist tradition and uphold Christian values in practice as well as in theory, whilst welcoming members of other faiths (and none) in a spirit of openness and tolerance; and to make religious education a strong feature of the curriculum.
  • Encourage pupils in a critical examination of the standards and values current in society and to discover and develop a personal faith and spiritual values to guide them through their lives.

  • An understanding of Christian values and a nurturing of moral responsibilities and behaviour regardless of age or background;
  • Close co-operation between parents, pupils and staff;
  • Enthusiasm, endeavour and self-discipline in all that we do;
  • Academic rigour at all levels of activity;
  • A commitment to strive for improvement and the pursuit of truth;
  • Curiosity, critical awareness and responsibility;
  • Fairness, trust and confidence in our dealings with one another;
  • Initiative, creativity and tenacity in the search for personal growth;
  • Qualities of loyalty, leadership and support;
  • Tolerance and respect for others no matter what their differences.

“If you want your child to have a fun, stimulating, happy experience at school, Kent College Junior is a great place for them to be. The children have lots of time and plenty of fresh air outdoors enjoying the beautiful grounds.”

“Maths and English are organised so everyone can go at their own pace. Those that need challenging and stretching get that and those that need extra support also get that, with no sense of 'heirarchy' or elitism. It is a truely comprehensive education where every child is valued and supported and encouraged to do their best and enjoy learning.”

There is plenty of time given to whatever they find fun- sport, music, art, drama and they are kept on track with academic learning by the staff who are good humoured, encouraging and engaging.

Through the pandemic, when the children have been at school, things have felt as normal and happy for them as usual, while reassuringly safe too.

The Prep and Pre-Prep is housed in a separate building from the Senior School, allowing us to be our own pastoral community in which the children thrive. At the same time we can share in the outstanding facilities within the college, such as the new Great Hall theatre and sports facilities, that not only enhance the children’s learning, but provide a wealth of opportunities for even our youngest pupils.

The Junior School focuses pupils on KORR values of kindness, openness, respect and responsibility as well as aiming to create adventurous, inquisitive and reflective learners.
