Santas on the Run

Santas on the Run

As you know, Kent College has a strong tradition of supporting a wide variety of charities locally and further afield. We are delighted to be writing to launch the efforts of the Kent College Santa Team as part of the Santa Run organised by the East Kent Hospices. The fun run of either three or five kilometres takes place on Sunday 27 November and we are hoping to bring together a record number of Santas (currently 70+) from the school to take part in the event to continue our strong association with this event and the amazing work of the hospices.

Pilgrims Hospices has been providing end-of-life care and support for patients with a range of life-limiting illnesses and their families across east Kent for more than 30 years. They are a registered charity offering their services free of charge. The first of the three hospices opened at Canterbury in 1982 and was followed by Thanet in 1992 and then Ashford in 2001. Eighty percent of the funding of the hospices comes from charitable donations; last year it cost £14 million to operate the three hospices.

If you feel you were able to support the students and staff in their fundraising efforts this is a link here to the JustGiving page that we are using to collect donations. If you would like to come and support our efforts, and witness more than 700 Santas running, then we will be setting off at 11:00 from the bandstand in Herne Bay.
