SIXTH FORM - DRESS CODE

Smart uniform

Sixth Form students are required to set an example to the rest of the school and should follow the dress code at all times. All Sixth Form students wear a suit in navy or dark blue. Students are expected to wear this suit with a tailored skirt or tailored trousers in a slim fit or standard fit straight leg style. Skirts should NOT be shorter than knee length.

Pupils may wear a well-ironed business-style shirt or blouse with sleeves and a collar in a pale plain colour or with stripes. Shirts must be worn with a tie of any colour. Shirts or blouses should always be tucked in. A smart, navy, fitted, v neck jumper may be worn over a shirt or blouse but only under the jacket, and students may wear a waistcoat in the same colour as their suit.

Day pupils travelling to and from school must wear full school uniform. Exceptions to this rule can be made only with permission of the Head.A smart black or navy coat can be worn on the way to school or during break times in cold weather. Coats should be a plain colour and if it has a logo it should be discreet. Coats should be long enough to cover the student's suit jacket.

All uniform should be clearly labelled with name tapes, and footwear should also be labelled with permanent marker. Parents and guardians are asked to ensure that clothes/items conform to the standards outlined. We ask you to adhere to these guidelines as any items not deemed suitable for School wear will need to be replaced. If you have any queries about uniforms in the Sixth Form, please contact your child's Head of House, House Parent or the Head of Sixth Form.

Jewellery

Students may wear one small ring and a discreet silver or gold necklace with a small attachment. A maximum of two plain stud earrings can be worn in the lobe of each ear. Bracelets and anklets are not allowed and no jewellery at all is to be worn for PE. Please ensure that all earrings can be removed for sport and games.

Personal care

No extreme hairstyles are allowed and hair may only be dyed natural colours and should be kept off the face. Long hair should be tied back for sport, experiments or when working with machinery or as directed by teachers. Discreet and natural-looking makeup is permitted. Nail varnish can be worn but should be of one colour and should not be chipped. Nails must be kept short and nail extensions are NOT permitted. Pupils must be facially clean shaven.

Footwear

Students should wear smart, business-like, black/brown shoes that are kept clean and polished at all times. Shoes can be slip-ons, lace up or with a fastening strap and buckle and should have a maximum heel of 4cm. Under no circumstances should flip flops, trainer-style shoes, boots or boot-style shoes be worn in school. Please also note that correct footwear should be worn in the Sports Hall (non-marking trainers) and the Astroturf (Astro trainers or suitably studded trainers). Studded or bladed football or rugby boots must NOT be worn on the Astroturf.
