Welcome to Kent College Junior School

Children follow individualised programmes that recognises that all children flourish at different rates and in response to different challenges. These challenges must be appropriate and delivered in a positive, encouraging way. All children benefit from our accelerated learning programme where they are taught numeracy and literacy in groups that are ability based rather than age based. All children receive a wide and varied range of opportunities that will allow them to enjoy a variety of activities and wherever appropriate strive for excellence.

KC Farm and Horse Riding

Pupils at Kent College are incredibly lucky to have access to the school’s full working farm, set in 50 acres (20 hectares) of land, and run by Mr Ben McNally – known to staff and pupils as Farmer Ben. Moat Farm is a short walk from the main Senior school campus, and is open to all pupils from both the Junior and Senior schools.

Good Schools Guide

The UK’s number one school guide advises parents on all aspects of education for over 1,000 schools and Kent College Canterbury is proud to be one of them. We welcomed their consultants for interviews with our Head Teachers, current parents and pupils in order to give prospective parents a credible, transparent and trusted view of our school.

Why Choose Us?

Accelerated Learning

Children are grouped by ability rather than chronological age so enabling us to accelerate their progress in Maths, English, a foreign language, sport and music.

G-R-E-A-T

Our Gifted, Really Enthusiastic, Able and Talented programme enables us to accelerate children’s progress academically and in Art, Design, Drama, Music and Sport through their maximum skill acquisition years of six to eleven.

Inclusivity

We do our best to ensure that all the children receive the wide range of opportunities that we offer and that all children make appropriate progress in all areas of school life.

Extended Day

Enables us to look after and challenge appropriately all our children between eight and six each day, this can be extended further by arrangement.

Early Years

Our children progress from Pre Reception to Reception where they are taught in an idyllic environment by a teacher supported by Teaching Assistants. This enables them to have their progress monitored and individually designed.

Boarding

Our family boarding arrangement makes us an excellent choice for children experiencing boarding for the first time. Our specific courses also enable our children to use the residential experience to achieve excellence.

Progression

We pride ourselves on being able to provide a personalised learning experience, where we can organise the curriculum to suit the child.
