General Secretary of HMC visits KC
On March 13 2024, Dr. Simon Hyde, the General Secretary of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC), visited Kent College.
The HMC General Secretary’s visit to Kent College is important as it underpins Kent College’s commitment to excellence in education.
The visit involved insightful presentations from our Senior Leadership Team focusing on internationalism, partnerships, and Kent College’s involvement with the community.
Kent College recognizes the importance of outreach locally within our community and globally. We have embarked on several initiatives, most notably expanding the IB curriculum where we regularly rank in the top 10 small cohort IB schools in the UK, and this year ranked joint 3rd. We have diversified our student population, built on our international partnerships, and weaved internationalism within the curriculum.
Our partnerships are extremely important, including East Kent Schools Together where we collaborate with neighbouring state schools to enhance educational opportunities, and the Education Research Schools Partnership where we work with schools to advance projects and research initiatives. Our upcoming collaboration is the EKST Parents Conference "Bringing a Child up in a Modern Age" on 21st March, 5:30pm-8:30pm. Tickets can be booked here.
We are also proud to have developed our support within the community with Age UK, Canterbury Society, Edukid, use of the School Farm, academic outreach, and conservation initiatives.
We valued the opportunity to discuss our vision for Kent College, and look forward to welcoming Dr Simon Hyde back to Kent College soon.
