KC MUSIC SCHOLAR ANNA GAINS OXFORD OFFER
Open to thrive is our mission statement here at Kent College and today we feel it is important to highlight one of our students who is undeniably thriving! Our Head Student Anna has received both an offer of a place to read English Literature and Language at the University of Oxford and a Choral Scholarship at the University. This comes from her impressive talent in singing, piano, and violin, and wide involvement within the school’s own choral society and drama productions.
Anna is testament to what working hard and being part of your community can achieve and is a music scholar here at the school. She has played leading roles in productions of Guys and Dolls and our summer operas and recently went on the choir trip to Venice over the Christmas period. We believe that students like Anna can act as inspiration to our community as a whole and we encourage any current or prospective students that have a passion or interest in music or choir to apply for a scholarship entering Year 7, 9, & 12, please visit our Scholarships & Bursaries page. We believe it is important to acknowledge the value of all our scholars whether they be musical or academic like Anna or otherwise.
We also want to praise Anna on her success, not only from a musical or academic perspective, but because of her confidence in completing the rigorous exams and interviews required of a student applying to Oxford. This is no easy task and being able to talk about your passions in front of experts is most certainly intimidating for anyone, yet Anna flourished and clearly impressed! For any students considering going down this path and applying to either Oxford or Cambridge, please head along to “Pathway to Oxbridge” after school on Tuesdays for extra help with applications from Mrs Budd and Mr Smith.
Once again, congratulations to Anna, we are so proud to call her our Head Student and we look forward to celebrating her future success.
